The Monument to the Martyrs of Independence (to the right in this picture) is a landmark in the Limete Commune in Kinshasa. It was erected by the president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) Mobuto Seko Sese to honor those who fell in the struggle for independence and, I assume, the civil war that ensued post independence. I have not managed to find any information about when it was built, nor who designed it.
