The Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) is a Parliament-enacted organization created in May 2005 in order to investigate and report on gross human rights violations that occurred in Liberia between January 1979 and 14 October 2003.

The TRC published its final report, titled "Volume 2: Consolidated Final Report", on July 1 2009. It states that the commission had found and investigated 163,615 cases of violations against the population, committed by a number of military and paramilitary groups, including 28,042 killings. Some of these cases are summarily presented in the final report, which also lists a large number of massacres committed by paramilitary groups (see chapters 8.2.3-4).
Database infrastructure and know-how was provided by Benetech (today HRDAG). Two datasets prepared for the report can be downloaded from HRDAG:s website.
Albeit the names of the victims in these datasets have been anonymised I’ve decided to include the number of 28,042 killings from the Liberian TRC Report in the Online Memorial Collection.
