RESEARCH
This website started out as a research page for the Polynational War Memorial project and much time has been spent to gather and publish material relating to war memorials and wars. The research has resulted in a database of war memorials from all over the world and a list of the wars that was fought in the 21st century. Most of the texts and images have been collected from publicly available sources online but some have been produced specially for the project including a series of articles about war memorials.
The archives are divided in four sections.
The memorials' section includes information about built memorials from the beginning of the 20th century with focus on memorials built after 1945. They typically include images and information about the memorial in question. You can find memorials by war, or country as a list or clickable map, or by using the search page.
The virtual memorial collection is a list of resources available online that list people that were killed or disappeared as a result of armed conflict. This list is entirely focused on conflicts after 1945 and includes soldiers as well as civilians.
The wars' section is a list of all wars that were fought in the world since the year 1900 with some information about the war in question.
There is also a resource section that lists some links to texts or other resource trelating to war memorials.
